BASE AREA ACTIVITIES
Crested Butte Mountain Resort’s base area Adventure Park comes complete with miniature golf, bungee trampolines,  and a climbing wall. The bungee trampolines provide a turbo-charged, gravity-defying ride up to 30 feet in the air, while the Climbing Pinnacle features a 28-foot, 6-route tower with auto-belay. The Adventure Park is open year-round. Tickets are available at the Adventure Center in Mountaineer Square and at the Specialized Rental & Demo Center located in the Treasury Building.

NORDIC SKIING
The Crested Butte Nordic Center, a full-service cross-country ski center conveniently located in the town of Crested Butte, is open for the season mid-November through early April and starts grooming trails by Lily Lake in early November. Beginners can rent equipment and take a lesson, while long-time classic skiers can learn to skate ski with local instructors for free the first Thursday of each month (Check their Event Calendar for more details). Those willing to make their own trails can head out in the backcountry, after checking the avalanche danger, on a tour to Gothic or beyond. Kids ski free and also receive free ski rentals!  The Nordic Center also offers weekly yurt dinners during the winter.  Check their website for information about this unique experience.

You may even want to participate in the famed “Alley Loop” Race put on each year. This is an event not to be missed, with races ranging in length from 1.5 km for the kids to a full-length Nordic Marathon.

SLEDDING & ICE SKATING
Near the Nordic Center in the town of Crested Butte is a terrific sledding hill as well as ice rink. Sleds and ice skates can be rented from the Nordic Center at nominal prices. This is a great apres ski activity for kids of all ages and is located on the free shuttle bus route in town.

SNOWMOBILING
If you’re looking for something a little different on your vacation, you may want to give snowmobiling with a local snowmobile guide a try. With a guide and a “sled” (as the locals call it), you have the opportunity to get a little further off the beaten path and explore areas it would take hours, if not days, to reach on foot. With a snowmobile, a quick 15 minute ride will get you out there.

THE TRAILHEAD CHILDREN’S MUSEUM

The Trailhead Children’s Museum’s mission is to offer an engaging and dynamic environment that inspires children and families to explore, create and learn together through discovery and play.  Check out their website for more information www.trailheadkids.org.

OTHER ACTIVITIES
The town of Crested Butte is known for its historic, colorful wooden buildings with an equally quirky local population. Plenty of retail stores and restaurants fill our little town. If you are tired of being outdoors and need a nice quiet respite inside, check out the movies at the Majestic Theater next door to Clark’s Market. Another wonderful option are the many performance offerings at the Crested Butte Center for the Arts.
